is it okay for cats to eat fresh vegetables?
I have a cat that loves fresh, raw avacado and sugar snap peas. Is it okay for her to eat small amounts occasionally? I have two cats and they both eat regular cat food every day. Only one of them likes veggies and she only gets them a couple times a year if that. When I do give her veggies, it is usually because it is something I am eating and she won't leave me alone until I give her a bite or two. I don't give her more that a few cat-sized bites.

- Well, sugar producing is no good but otherwise vegies won't hurt or help your cat as they carry no benefits
- it is not good for them and they are conavores
- Give him as much as he wants! It should be perfectly fine. I once had a bunny that ate chips and pizza!
- There are some vegetables you should never feet your cat because they're toxic, more so in large quantities. These are Onions Potatoes Rhubarb Mushrooms Garlic Persimmons Tomatoes Avocado contains a toxin known as persin. It is found in all parts of the avocado & is toxic to most domestic animals. The sugar snap peas are ok in small quantities, carrots also. But only feed them vegetables occasionally as they're primarily carnivores.
- Yes, that's fine, as long as that is not ALL they are getting. It is actually good for them once in a while. Just be sure they eat meat regularly. I was a vegetarian for a long time, and asked several vets about putting my cats on a veggie diet. They all said the same thing: if it were a dog, it would be okay, but cats need meat. But occasional veggies don't hurt them at all.
- Of course, my cat loved veg and she lived to be 15 and had no health problems, she just died of old age.and like yours she wanted food off my plate, so i would share with her,but she also had cat food so she had the proper vitamins needed for a cat.
- yes, cats do like small amounts of greens, and it is healthy for them.
