For vegetarians who believe eating meat is the same as eating excrement - Really?
I saw this vegetarian restaurant add that implied if you eat birds, birds eat flies and flies eat poop and therefore you eat poop. Do vegetarians really go for that? It makes no sense, since plants feed off of soil and in the soil goes fertilizers which are, many times, poop. I eat very little meat myself and I support vegetarians. But this analogy is really very silly. Vegetarians agree with me?

- not me. only be an issue if the meat people buy has excrement in it.
- excrement and meat are synonymous. both disgusting, and in the long run, bad for your health. go figure!
- I don't think eating meat per se = eating poop. Obviously it is very different. However, I find eating dead animals almost as disgusting! McDonalds burgers (and probably many other things) have been found to have sh!t in them, because they use the cheap parts of the cow including tripe, which contains the processed food that the cow never got to dump.
- You're right--plants are sometimes fertilized with manure, so they "contain" poop just like birds do from eating insects. However, meat is often contaminated with feces, which is a different problem. Cows are slaughtered so quickly that their intestines are often severed, which sends cow shit everywhere. Usually the bacteria from the shit are killed in the production process, but not always. Hence, e. coli outbreaks. But whether meat is sterilized or not, it often contains fecal matter. Bon appetit!
- Everything on the planet is recycled. All plants and animals die and eventually decompose into the soil and life starts again. Many plants are also grown directly with manure. So, if you want to get technical about it, eating anything can be traced back to excrement or death.
- you are what you eat. you eat carcus, carrion, dead flesh. your body then becomes, well a kinda grave yard. n' some folks actually smell like it. mean no offence, just stating facts. poop actually is full of things like vitamins, minerials, when used as compst for growing veggies, well we all need our poop. some of that "Ad" i agree goes too far ever hear ashes to ashes n' dust to dust
- I agree, such logic shows a complete, well, lack of logic.
- I think the ad you saw was on the fanatical side. You could say the same thing for plants, which are often fertilized with manure. So yes; I think the analogy was silly, and I'm a vegetarian.
- I have been a vegetarian for years and have never heard that before. It is stupid. Luckily I am going vegan.
- I 'spose there could be tiny traces if you eat the bird stomach haha but yeah, I think it's pretty stupid thing to say/think but what ever floats their boat.
- yeahhh this is way rediculous. don't believe everything you read
- Yeah, I think that's a little over the top. If they're trying to convince people that eating meat is gross, they sure picked an indirect, illogical way to do it!
