What is the best way to freeze, thaw and serve fresh vegetables for my baby? ?
My son is 10 months old, and I want to give him as much fresh food as possible. As expensive as vegetables are, and the fact that my husband and I don't eat together too often (which means a lot of waste, and the need for quick prep), I want to know how to get little meals ready for my son, and have them easily accessible when there's not much time.

- You could do it 2 ways. Either divide the veggies up into individual portions that you think he could manage for each meal. Bag them and seal them thoroughly. Or you could cook them first, whichever way you prefer, boiling or steaming etc. And freeze them that way again sealing them thoroughly. You can if you want put the food in an ice-cube tray for individual sized portions. Use within 2 weeks though just to be safe. Either way I would imagine is fine. Just allow them to defrost at room temperature and serve them as normal. Good Luck
- Prepare foods in small portions and freeze them. Purchase a freezing cookbook for freezing info. All vegetables need to be blanched or cooked before freezing. The only exception to this is freezing chopped onion and chopped bell pepper. Here's a link to a book about how to prepare organic baby food: ttp://www.amazon.com/Petit-Appetit-Cookbook-Organic-Recipes/dp/1557884536/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3_s9_rk?ie=UTF8&s=books&s9r=8a5850a4189e9876011955b0fcf310c3&itemPosition=3&qid=1223477890&sr=1-3 The book is sold at Amazon but I am sure you can find it in other bookstores. For what ever reason the link did not show up. The name of the cookbook is: The Petit Appetit Cookbook: Easy, Organic Recipes to Nurture Your Baby and Toddler It received lots of stars and good reviews at Amazon. Two good freezer/preserving cookbooks are: Ball Blue Book Sunset Freezer Cookbook hope this helps
