Do vegetarians have a substitute food to get the same nutrients we can get from fish?

- Well fish has a few really good things about it nutritionally, apart from the mercury that accumulates very easily in some species. Omega 3 is one of the healthiest aspects of fish-consumption. This can also be found in Flax, Chia, Kiwifruit, Perilla, Lingonberry, Camelina, Purslane, Black Raspberry, Butternuts, Walnuts, Pecans, Hazelnuts, eggs, milk & cheese from cowmilk, strawberries & broccoli. Protein is also found in fish, of course, which can be replaced by numerous non-animal sources such as legumes, beans, tofu, etc.
- If you're talking about the fish oil capsules or fish oils from fish, they're used for Omega 3 fatty acids. Vegetarians use ground flaxseed, walnuts and other foods for Omega 3, or there are also DHA/EPA supplements from algae as a replacement for fish oil-- without the PCB's, mercury and other contaminants of fish. I personally don't use DHA or believe in using such an expensive supplement that's unproven. I use just organic ground flaxseed regularly in my cooking.
- Vitamins, also seeds have some Omega 3 fatty acids like pumpkin seeds. Answer mine? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AojhiyiTleB9gpPpEI2_9jd26xR.;_ylv=3?qid=20081214143813AAA61Ur

- real vegetarians never eat fish. That's a misconception. Pescatarians eat fish. Anyway. I eat whatever I like. I don't need a substitute for anything. Vegetarian 5 years
