Fresh Vegetable Recipes

Is it healthier to eat whole fresh fruits and vegetables?

I read online where they said it is healthier to eat whole fresh fruits and vegetables. It said not to eat cooked food or processed food because it is not natural. It said cooked food is not pure.

  2. fresh fruits are pretty much fine, but you may want to eat microwavable vegetables..im pretty sure the dr., from cw11, dr. steve i think, said that.
  3. You don't say Cooked food destroys some of the nutrients
  4. Of course it is healthy to eat fresh, untreated fruit and vegetables, but you can not eat all vegetables row. While cooking will take away some of the vitamins, many other components remain intact. On the other hand, could you eat asparagus or artichokes, eggplants etc. row? Maybe you can, but they taste awful
  5. it is best eaten fresh. cooking destroys nutrients.if u do want to cook them try steaming. better than boiling food
  6. fruit and vegs is healthy yeah but so is chicken and fish you get healthy foods theres loads just look up a book about it brown rice is also healthy well raw food can make you ill theres a program on tv called health docotors look it up or watch you are what you eat you will see what i mean
  7. Yes, raw veg and fruit is better as cooking reduces the nutrient value. I whizz my mixed fruit into a smoothie to eat with a spoon, and sometimes have added a sprig of broccoli or a little celery (don't overdo it), and many raw veg can be eaten diced, raw, in a salad. If you prefer them cooked, try to have them al dente, and not overcooked to a mush. And either steam them or if boiling in water, use the water to add to soups or sauces. Many of the vitamins are water soluble, and it is losing that goodness if you strain the cooking water down the drain.
  8. That's exactly what I read.
  9. You have written post after post regarding all you know about nutrition and you are asking if eating whole foods is better then processed foods?
  10. having fresh food is always better as it is ripe which means that all the vitamins are still there, food that is processed and tinned loses some of this but it still good for you, everything counts, it probaly is a little bit better in all but who has time to have everything fresh
  11. its all good for you
  12. This question is not pure. I've lost my juicer and my ceramic knife.
  13. yes. most times cooked food is over cooked.. thus the minerals and vitamins have been removed through the process. and many love to add things (additives) to the food when it's cooked.
  14. Thats true
  15. Whole fruits are the purest. That is why I am a juicertarian. Oh, hello Ashleys. Thank you everyone for your thoughtful responses.
  16. you mean the cavemen went to all that trouble to invent fire for nothing?
  17. Are you so gullible that you believe everything you read on-line? Make your own choices in life dont just blindly follow what strangers tell you to do
  18. Yes, I think that's probaby true most of the time; at least as far as nutrients go. But how can you be sure you're not getting genetically modified food or chemical pesticide/fertilizer residue? Maybe you would know in the UK; but in the US we don't know what we're getting. You can buy "organic" food but it's more expensive and I'm still not all that confident that they are telling the truth. "Cavement invented fire?" What an unscientfic answer, everyone knows Prometheus got fire from the gods on Mt. Olympus and brought it to mankind.
  19. did you just answer your own question?
