Vegetarians ?
Ok this morning i was sitting eating a fried egg, thinking about what my mum said to me earlier - she said that these eggs were baby chicks - and i was just about to put it into my mouth - i thought omg, apart from eggs, think about what you've ate at mcdonalds think of the poor animals that have suffered - thats why from now on im becoming a vegetarian - including fish in my diet because i need iron. Any tips on what food to eat and what food not to eat? Thanks xx Nicole xx P.s - My mum is probably the only one supporting me but Kids at school will laugh at me when im offered something meaty and i tell them im a vegetarian and some of my family members will not support me and just laugh in my face like when i told them something last year - any advice on what to tell them? All i know is to tell them to shut up but thats disrespectful and inappropriate lol =) Thanks xx They could of became baby chicks if farmers had left them alone :O!! I know what you mean - i dont need to eat fish just for protien like i could eat - green veggies - but i felt left out at family dinner today when they had mcdonalds so i got a fish finger meal lol :D Why'd you all think im dumb in biology sheesh give me a break im only 15!! Lol

- eggs are not baby chicks ^o) ! they are just normal eggs, dont worry about it.
- Anything that is linda mccartney. Be careful with sweets as they have gelatine in,same goes for boxed sweets and cakes. Especially cheesecake and roulade! Well done
- Ugh, I avoid fish. You can get iron from so many green veggies like spinach. Fish is only important in a veggie diet for omega-3's which you can get by eating flax seed. If you wish to eat fish, that's okay. Avoid GELATIN. It is made from animal ligaments and is commonly found in poptarts, marshmallow, jello (obviously) and it is found in a lot of dips. ***Though I would add a couple in: Check soup labels for "beef broth", McDonald fries contain "natural flavors (beef source)" which you can see on their website, and check any ramen noodle ingrediants you may get some have beef flavor in the oriental style. Top Ramen is what I eat and the oriental is veggie friendly. ****Also an added not, there is another name for "vegetarians that eat fish". True vegetarians eat no meat whatsoever, including fish. Maybe someone else will answer as to what their called but I just wanted to give you a heads up and let you know some vegetarians may get offended. *****On the egg situation. Chickens have to lay eggs. Unless they've been fertilized, they aren't going to be baby chickens. I understand you worrying. I personally eat egg beaters which can be found next to the milk in some grociery stores or next to the eggs. They are 99% egg white (which isn't the baby part) and the other 1% is artifical flavoring. They don't taste exactly like egg.. but it works. I use it in baking too =).
- Foods to eat: greens, salads, apples, oranges, milk, water, chocolates are fine Not to eat: Eggs (if u want), beef, chicken, pork, any animal pretty much =)
- So, eggs are baby chicks are they? Have you studied biology? And why is it OK to eat dead fish but not dead chicken? I think you need to think about things a bit more. I salute your sentiment, but you'll be going about it the wrong way. Edit: No, they'd only be baby chicks IF THEY WERE FERTILISED. See? No idea about biology have you. You know *you* lay an egg every month? (I assume you're female, and of that age...) Do you think each one of those would become a baby if it was left alone? You need to listen harder at school.
- Fish is an animal. there are plant foods from which you can get iron.
- Okay, well, firstly I would recommend picking up some multi-vitamins to keep you healthy. Then, make sure you eat lots of fruit and veg and cheese. Nuts are a good source of protein. And to your friends, don't tell them anything. Just eat what you want to. If they offer you some meat, say 'no thank you'. You do not need to give an explanation. Well done for deciding to become veggie, hope you are strong enough to stick to it, but make sure you keep yourself healthy by eatin good healthy food. Here are some links for yummy veggie meals: http://www.peta2.com/STUFF/s-recipereal.asp http://www.viva.org.uk/# Good Luck!
- lots of nuts and peanuts and peanubutter for protein!
- Well I respect and support your desicion. Except for one thing - 'I'm becoming a vegetarian - including fish in my diet becuase I need iron'! You do not need to eat fish for iron! Try spinach or nuts instead. Even if you decide to eat fish remember that you are a pescitarian - NOT of vegetarian! You should try making a curried lentil soup or something. Go to the vegetarian society's website for loads of recipe ideas. Good Luck!
- where I live there are shops where they sell only vegitarian/vegan foods. And in most markets I've been to upstate they have specialized sections for vegitarians, usually in the produce section. I would recommend Yzes brand. All products are meatless but taste amazing and contain about 25 grams of protien per serving. <3
- You are not Vegetarian, if you eat anything with a face.
- eggs are not baby chickens. Eggs are our equipment of when a female has a period. Thats why you'll find old chickens don't lay eggs. Also you're a hypocrite to eat fish. Fish where once living beens. they have feelings and they feel pain.
- first of all you do not need fish for iron, all the iron you need is in spinich and cream of wheat. cream of wheat actually has all the iron needed for the day if you want to eat it daily. Spinich, well I happen to like it, is immensly high in iron as well. Another thing, the eggs you eat were not baby chicks because they were not fertilized by a rooster so they were never going to become a chick. I raised chickens and no roosters and they daily layed eggs. If you want to be a vegatarian with no meat at all decide if you want to be a vegetarian or a vegan. I eat chicken and fish myself and eat eggs drink milk. for 13 yrs however I was a vegetarian I did eat eggs drink milk though because I was not a vegan, no animal by products at all. You can go to your local Seventh Day Adventist conference office/food supplier and they will have quite a large varity of meatless meats. If you want to be a vegan, no by products at all that would be the place to shop. You do not need meat to get protien, iron or anything do not let people tell you differently. I was pregnant and ate no meat, no fish or chicken even, and my baby was healthier than the 2 friends of mine who ate meat and had their babeis. They than told me I could not nurse but I did for a year and they only were able to for 6 weeks than had to suppliment, I never had to. Their are suppliments out there if you are worried but if you eat correctly, there is no need for animal products at all. Beans, peanut butter, certain soy meat products contain all the protien you need. Fruits and veggitable provide all the calcium and postassium and iron you will need. Good luck and happy decision making on going vegetarian or vegan. I could never be a vegan myself because I happen to like Ice cream and other milk products too much. I am not a big fan of milklless Ice cream or eggless cakes. But they are out there.
- I"M A VEGETARIAN TOO! it such an amazing choice....u feel so much better inside...and studies have actaully showen (and i'm not making this up) that vegitarians are healthier and live longer. good food are ~ Tofu (sounds grose...but really good for you and can tast good!) can find in local grociery store or health food store ~ Fish (any kind...and a good way for protine) ~Soy meat "fake meats" (the make all kinds of alteriatives for meat like soy dogs... (hot dogs) my favorite if boca burger (hamburger) omg so good!!! ~nuts/ beans (always good!) ~pasta/ pizza (w/ brocciol or tomato sause) ~soups (veggie of any kind...always nutrious...BUT be carful that u chekc and make sure that any soups...even if say veggie dont have chicken broth!!!) ~ saldas!!! (all kinds...) ~Stir fry (with fake meat...veggies...rice...mmmm my fav) GOOD LUCK hope that that helped....i have been doing it for 14 years!! and don't regret one moment of it! tips- don't eat just carbs...get protien and nutriants... check lables for things that could have meat products (soup broths...pasta sause...saldas...etc...) also check out...PETA.com (talks about amimal crulety and saving aniamals) and other vegitarian web sites or magizzens/ books (can find in borders or barnes and nobles) xoxoxo
- my sisters a vegan and she eats stuff like tofu, soy, fruits , veggies, etc. since you're still eating dairy, you should probably still eat stuff like eggs, mik ,and yogurt a lot though.(but not too many eggs since the chickens are treated really bad)
- My friend just became a vegeteratian/vegan! I don't think that you or her should become one. Yes, you are eating innocent animals but how do you think farmers and slaughterers make a living? They would be living on the street without killing/milking animals! I know it's sad but meat is protein and you need protein to survive! Especially red meat. If you really want to become a vegeterian, here are some foods to eat: -Veggies with some dip (If you aren't becoming a Vegan, the dip can be dairy) -Fruit -Veggie fingers (Chicken fingers without the chicken! Instead, it's the veggies!) -Pasta Say to everyone this: Look, I know you might find it funny that I'm becoming a Vegeterian but I have my own right to become a vegeterian and if you laugh at me, go ahead! It's not gunna stop me from doing what I think is right! HOPE I HELPED! <3 Best of luck w/ everything!
- I understand where you are coming from because my son is a vegetarian. He is in college studying to be a chef! There are many good reasons to be a vegetarian but please try to remove the emotional aspects and look at it logically. You will need to research a little about nutrition to be sure you get adequate nutrients, especially if you are a younger person and your body is still growing and forming bone mass and such. You may also find the book "The Secret Life of Plants" very interesting. Don't bother trying to explain to family or friends why you are vegetarian or try to convert them. Just say 'no thank you' if they offer you food you do not wish to eat. I am not a vegetarian but I support my son and anyone else choosing to be vegetarian 100%. My son became vegetarian after reading "Mad Cowboy", that's the book by the guy who was on Oprah and then she got sued for saying she would not eat another hamburger! I say you go for it but LEARN about nutrition! P.S. My son is a GREAT cook and I would be vegetarian if I could have him cook for me :)
- Well your mummy is a very intelligent woman isn't she? be your self, dont try to be someone your "MUMMY" wants you to be, live a healthy life..... period -Dogluvr, the human race is a carnivorous animal... imagine a lion trying to survive on grass and nuts on the savana... its stupidity... the only reason you survive is because humans know how to balance their vegitarian diets, we are carnivores, man is stronger, much healthier with meat in our diets, plain and simple... were the great whites of the earth... part of the food chain. you think we would still be here if a caveman decided not to kill an animal because those nuts on that tree just seemed more satisfying, gimmie a freakin break
- Firstly I think you should let your doctor know of your intentions to go vegeterian and he will support you. The choice to eat meat or not is a personal one, and you will find that there are a variety of foods out there that you can enjoy that are not taken from animals. Some vegetarians though do choose to include cheese and dairy produce, which are an excellent source of vitamin D and calcium. Something that has been talked about alot in the media lately. Let's face it the animal doesn't exactly die for us to benefit from these - so no blood is spilled. The same can be said for eggs. Another great source of iron is in potatoes, pulses(thats all kinds of beans) and any green veg(spinach, cabbage, peas....) So good luck on your resolve. I admire anyone who does convert, as I tried it once but my will power was too weak. I actually ended up breaking my resolve 3 weeks after by eating a sausages. I realised I was addicted to meat.
- Firstly, vegetarians don't eat fish! You don't need it for protein, there is so many others. Eggs are not baby chicks. The ones which you buy never where chicks. The eggs that you buy have not been fertilized by a male hen. Basically, the eggs you eat are a female chickens period =[ Kinda disguesting i know.
- first....an egg is not like a baby.....so to make a baby you need a man and a woman....that do sex......to make a egg you need just a chichin if you want to make a baby chichin you need the chichin to had sex before....the egg from super market are just eggs the mother for the egg did't had sex.....OK? And want you speach for people.....first fuck the people they don't live your live you don't need to explain yourself....you need to start to feel special you do something dificult and very good....just you juge yourself ..... what you do is like training for olompics....every day you go one step foward. And if you realy need to speack something.....you can say thath you love yourself more than food., you eat food no food eats you,,, or speach how bad is the food that he is eating(specialy if he is eating in that momen).Go on internet and read some staf about junk food so you can speack something that look scientific....don't learn...you will remember something like one year of smoking is like one month on mcdonald food and warst.... And above all...remember every moment you special
- I'm a vegetarian too. Being a vegetarian is completely normal, in fact studies have shown that being a vegetarian often have lower incidence of coronary artery disease, hypertension, obesity and some forms of cancer. So i wouldn't worry about what the other kids at school will say as the amount of vegetarians around the world is increasing. There is a good range of vegetarian food available at local supermarkets including Quorn which is a meat substitute and other vegetarian makes like Linda McCartney, but it is important to try and keep a balanced diet. However i wouldn't advise cutting eggs completely out of your diet as they are a good source of needed protein and eggs that you buy in the supermarket were produced purely for human consumption and are unfertilized and never even contained a baby chick.
- okay not dissing any vegetarians but heres my oponion. when you eat only vegeatables, fruits, and non meats, your basically eating the animals food, which in fact still kills the animals.
- well you should stick to basic food here is some thing's you can eat and can't (food you can eat-fruit veg crisp's biscuit's yogurt egg chips baked foods cakes desserts (food you can't eat-pork lamb salami chorizo. you can eat fish if you want to and you can eat halal
- first of all your not vegetarian if you eat fish thats called pescatarian, so technially u aint veg. ur still eating flesh..i did for two months but not based on morals cause thats just stupid (respect for vegheads out there)it was more of a dietary choice, so i pretty much ate, vegies, tofu, and pasta shit like that... good luck ..hahahahahaha
- the eggs have not been fertilized there are no roosters at an egg farm only hens
- go to goveg.com they have tons of information on vegetarian and vegan information
- Eggs are not dead baby chickens they are not fertile so wouldn't hatch into anything. And don't fish have feelings? I've gone teetotal this year apart from the beer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- you can get iron from dried fruit, or take a multi-vitamin you can get protein from nuts, seeds, soy products[tofu, soy milk], whole grains, beans, peas, brown rice, lentils, and peanut butter eat plenty fruits and veggies go to peta2.com, goveg.com for more info and recipes and buy cruelty free :] and stay away from gelatin
- By 15, you should know unfertilized eggs are essentially chicken PERIODS, not chicken fetuses. Vegetarians don't eat fish. You're an omnivore.
- You're not vegetarian if you eat fish. Seriously, don't you know they are FLESH too? They suffer as well. Please.. don't call yourself vegetarian if you eat fish. You make us look bad.
