Vegetarians?

I know this sounds stupid, but what sort of foods are they're allowed to eat. And what are the different types of vegetarians. I'm asking this because I'm sort of confused about something. I thought that they just don't eat meat, but I heard that there are others who don't eat eggs and cheese, and some other stuff. Please explain!!! Thanks. :)

  1. vegetarians dont eat meat, vegans dont eat ANY animal products. to keep things equal so the hippies dont win, i try to eat animal products exclusively.
  2. what he said- well minus the meat thing- not for moral reasons I just don't like the taste
  3. Firstly that is not a studip quesiont. Many people do not know and pthers try to confuse the matter. So its good to ask. Vegetarian - no meat this includes chicken and fish. So no meat Vegan - nothing from an animal. - There are different types of vegetarians and vegans. there are four main reasons: Personal health Want to stop animal cruelty Want to help the environment Want to reduce human starvation - feed the hungry people graind not animals. If you want to know more, - you can ask here or email.
  4. There are many different forms of vegetarianism and many more are coming to light in mainstream society. No vegetarian subgroup eats meat (including poultry and fish) or products that come from the slaughter of an animal including, but not limited to: Gelatin, Rennet, Lard, Tallow, and some forms of Glycerin Lacto-Ovo Vegetarian: This is the most common type of vegetarian. Lacto-ovo vegetarians eat dairy and eggs as well as plant-based foods. Lacto Vegetarian: Eat only dairy products and plant-based foods Ovo Vegetarian: Eat only egg products and plant-based foods Vegan: Only eat plant-based foods. Vegans do not eat any products that came from an animal. But also, vegans do not buy products that were tested on animals or clothes that are made from animal materials including leather, wool, suede, silk, and fur. Raw Vegan: Raw vegans eat only plant-based foods that are raw or nearly raw. Raw vegans try to eat only foods that are kept under 115 deg. F to retain vitamins and minerals that may be lost during the cooking process Fruitarian: Eat only plant-based foods which do not harm the plant to cultivate. This means that most foods they eat grow on trees or vines that continue to grow after the fruit is picked. They do not believe in killing the whole plant. The reasons people become vegetarian are widely varied: -Animal cruelty/Animal rights issues -Religion -Health -Environment -Taste/texture
  5. the main reason for the confusion is that most people who don't eat eggs or dairy are called vegans. Veganism is not a diet- it's a lifestyle. So we don't wear fur or leather, or use cosmetics which have been tested on animals, and avoid pharmaceuticals where possible. A person who doesn't eat any animal products but still chooses to wear leather etc is called a strict vegetarian. Typically a vegetarian is someone who will not eat the flesh from any animal, but will still choose to eat animal products like eggs and dairy products.
