  1. Very good! I feed my dogs cooked veggeis, i make their food and mix that with kibble.
  2. if you can eaten
  3. Yes ofcourse but that if your dog eats vegetables.
  4. Yes, all but onions. Onions are toxic to dogs. See here: http://www.jlhweb.net/Boxermap/onions.html
  5. There are many books available on how to feed your dog a raw natural diet, my favourite being Juliette de Bairclii-Levy's "Complete Herbal Handbook for the Dog and Cat" Certainly vegetables and fruits play a significant role in a natural diet and may even be fed raw providing they are put through a blender/food processor to turn them into mush as dogs cannot digest the cellulose in plant material. This way the vegetables resemble the stomach content of prey. Not cooked, not fully digested but in a form that the canine can deal with. Some veges are better very lightly steamed before blending such as the legumes.
  6. they are fine for treats and yu can add vegges occasionally if you like, but, dogs are essentially carnivores. the bulk of their food should be meat. they dont process vegges like humans do and vegges wont do much for their nutrition. dogs are not human. if you want to make your own petfood and feed it to him on a regular basis, you will need to find out how much of each vitamin a dog needs, how much is in each food, then get animals vitamin supplements to make up the rest, and try not to overdose him. or you could just keep him on a good, normal dog diet that consists of raw meat, bones and dry food that would be better for him. it will be cheaper to buy dog food - not all dog food was included in the recall. .
  7. Fresh vegetables are very good for dogs.. Be careful if you are just winging the diet thing.. You want to make sure that it's balanced for a dog.. The same diet that is good for us, even tho it's the same type foods, isn't necessarily what a dog needs nutritionally.
  8. Fresh or not, isn't really the question you need to be asking. It's all about content. Dogs, like people, have very specific nutritional requirements. You just have to do a little research on which veggies will help you to achieve those needs. I've included a couple of links to help you get started. I definitely recommend reading the article in the second link first. It will give you an excellent understanding of your pet. The first and third link will help you to actually go about making the food.
  9. Its not so natural but i hear it can be done. Personally I am against it because 100% vegan isn't the way nature made them (hence why some kill small animals and eat them....its instinct) but a vegan home made diet is better than kibble. This site is pretty well written out. I liked it a lot and I am making my friend's pom (that I care for) vegan for her because I know she wouldn't continue feeding him raw meats. http://www.vegetariandogs.com/
  10. Bear in mind, dog only likes certain veg. My golden hates lettuce but love celery. Maybe its crunchy and that lettuce is leafy. U shldn;t miss out the protein portion e.g. meat if you are making dog food out of fresh ingredient. Dogs are meat eater, you cannot deprive him from eating meat. Remember!
  11. DEFINATELY............ Fresh foods are always the best for humans and even our pets. Fruits are very good also. Dont feed the cores of any fruit because some do contain like cyanide in them like apples. But the fruit itself is safe. Avocados a no, they r on the toxic food list, onions, raisins, and grapes a definate no also. Toxic........
  12. Corn is not good. Other vegtables are ok but dogs need meat and other nutrients. Go to this web site to learn about dog and cat food nutrition- you can also compare brands on this site. http://www.nancyshealthnet.com I found this food before the contamination scare and boy was I glad I did.
