Are fresh vegetables better for you than frozen vegetables?
I have recently heard that frozen veggies can be better for you because they are frozen at a point where they can lock in the most nutrients. However, are certain nutrients destroyed/denatured when frozen that are considered important for a healthy diet?

- depends on how long they have been frozen. they both are good for you.
- Studies have shown there is minimal differences between fresh and frozen, or even canned, for that matter
- Fresh vegetable are always the best and they are better consummed fresh. Frozen veggies ok but not for too long. Vitamin C in vegetables is unstable and can easily be destroyed by exposure to light and but cutting/shredding and washing. Always wash before shredding veggies.
- If you have a garden and eat them straight after picking I would have to say that is best. Because we can't have a garden always handy, I would try to find a farm or a local farmers market. I have frozen vegtables. You must blanche them for at least 3 minutes, submersion in boiling water. Thus killing any germs on the vegetable but also taking some nutrients with it, as the water in the pot will have a slight color of the vegetable. Untainted veggies are best. Keep up the healthy lifestyle.
- Unless you grow it or buy it directly from the farmer, frozen is fresher then fresh. I have heard that microwaving and other ways to cook them can destroy some nutrients.
- fresh is always better, but if you can't get them fresh, frozen is a close second
- Why not get some fresh spinach.....?
- Frozen is better because it is frozen right away, whereas "fresh" veggies have been in transit for several days.
