Fresh Vegetable Recipes

Are frozen vegetables just as nutritious as fresh?

I know fresh would be best, but I do not have the time or the patience to chop up fresh vegetables, and then steam them. I prefer to cook with frozen. Are frozen just as nutritious, and maintain the same vitamin content as fresh?

  1. Yes, very close, and they are much better than canned or dehydrated. Usually, vegetables are processed the same day they are harvested and frozen veggies are then flash frozen or cooked for canning. Fresh is best but not always available or convenient.
  2. Yep,technology has come up with the process to preserve the taste and nutrition of vegetables even though they are frozen,so enjoy!
  3. Sad to say but now-a-days frozen are better than fresh one's unless you can pick them from your own garden. They might look fresh in the markets but mostly the important vitamins etc. are far gone by the time you store/cooked them.
  4. Yes they are, of course it all depends on the brand. Some brands use the best harvest and some don't. As a matter of fact, some frozen vegetables keep more of their nutrients because of the way they're processed. So, you'll probably get more nutrients with the frozen anyway. Keep it simple.
  5. If the option is frozen vegetables or no vegetable, I would chose frozen :)
  6. yes a new research came out and said that most frozen vegies are more nutitiious then freash vegies because same fresh vegies hang around for days
  7. Often they are better. The makers of frozen foods select the best crops they can get and process them quickly. The "fresh" food you buy in shops may have taken days to be transported there, handled by many people and sometimes poorly presented. This can be particularly important if you are in the States, because of the huge distances involved.
