Do you have any good Passover recipes? I need ...? vegetable side dishes and fruit dishes and desserts :) maybe a few kid friendly foods, too ... Also, do you have any hints on how to decorate the table? I am using light greens, crystal blue and purple colors, but wonder what to put in the middle along with the candles. Should I use ribbon? any info will be helpful. I have 4 church tables to decorate, all connected and we have the candle menorah (correct spelling?)
Passover recipe? This year I'm doing all the cooking and bringing it to my parents who live out of state. I've looked through passover cookbooks and some other sites, but I really want a Passover dessert that is really the best. My dad is a diabetic so I'd like to keep the sugar to a minimum. I'm okay with eggs but so many recipes I've found have so many eggs. If you have any recipes I'd appreciate it . Enjoy your sedar.
Best recipe for Passover dessert? I volunteered to bring dessert for seder both nights. What is your all-time best dessert recipe (kosher for Passover, of course?) Thanks!
What's your favorite Passover recipe? I'm looking to hear from people who have a Passover recipe they really enjoy and would be willing to share. I'm not Jewish, and my husband's mother doesn't cook so we don't really have any "tried and true" recipes of our own. Now that we have kids, I'd like to celebrate holidays from my husband's faith as well as my own. And what's a better place to start than with food!

Butternut Squash kugal recipe for Passover? I used to have a recipe for Passover, using potato starch and cake meal. I have lost that recipe and now would like to make it again for my Passover Seder. Does anyone have it? I did ask this in the recipe category, but no one has one thats Kosher for Passover, meaning no flour can be used. It didnt have any apples in it. It used frozen squash, coffee creamer, potato starch, cake meal and cinnamon. But I dont remember the exact measurements.
Anybody have a recipe for a Hazelnut Torte? Not sure if this is exactly what it is called, but it was chocolate and flour and tons of ground up hazelnuts and it was kosher for Passover. I helped make one at a Jewish friend's house years ago, but forgot to get a copy of the recipe. It was so rich and wonderful and I would love to try making it again. Any authentic recipes for it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Is this recipe okay for passover? I love to bake, and wanted to bring in meringues for my homeroom. However, I know that passover is going on now, and since I'm not jewish, I wanted to make sure that this is okay. The only restriction is that the food can't contain wheat, right? These are the ingredients: 1/2 cup water 2 tablespoons white sugar 1 tablespoon cornstarch 3 egg whites 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar 1 pinch salt 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract 6 tablespoons white sugar Any help greatly appreciated :-)

Could anyone give me the recipe for traditional Passover "unleavened bread"? Hope to hear from someone today, so I can prepare this recipe. Thanks! Well, you've all been WONDERFUL to answer me so quickly and thoroughly; and the information is also very interesting and informative! Now it's off to the kitchen I go, even though I don't have a pizza stone. Thanks everyone! God bless you! Since I don't have a pizza stone, I'm going to try using my cast-iron flat-griddle (I've often used it to make large pancakes). I enjoy baking breads, and you've all given me lots of different ideas for this recipe. Thanks! Well, it's baking on my griddle right now at 6-7 on the stove element. I used white flour, added water till kneadable, (also added 1/2 tsp salt and a little olive oil). I kneaded and flattened the dough-ball, pricked it on both sides, and can hardly wait till it's done! (I think the salt would make it leavened, wouldn't it though, because we've all heard of salt-rising bread?) I'd better get back to the stove now, and turn it over. Ok, here's how it turned out. Even though I rolled it out very flat, it still was rather thick as it baked. The inside was gummy (probably because of the olive oil). So, I slit it immediately into 2 pieces, and rebaked those sides. The crusts are now flaky and tender. I'll have to practice with this recipe again to get it right, but I'm still very happy with the results. "Blessed be God, Who bringeth forth food from the earth, and fruit of the vine, for our sustenance." Amen.
Vegan+ Passover= Mess!? I want to respect my mother's wishes of remaining Kosher, Ashkenazim style, for Passover. However, this is my first year being Vegan as well, and it's difficult. I'm done with matzoh; no protein, kills the intestines. I tried Quinoa and my body didn't take to that either. I'm basically living off of peanut butter, bananas, and sweet potatoes, but there's only so much of that a person can take. 1) Any tips, recipes, or food items, please? (besides renouncing my religion/vegan ism) 2) Would it be unethical to eat either my nutritional yeast or brown rice supplements? Thank you!

In a kosher diet, can I mix dairy products with eggs? I'm invited to a Passover dinner tomorrow night, and I wanted to bring a potato salad. However, my recipe calls for certain dairy products and hard-boiled eggs. I fully intend to find only kosher ingredients; however, I know you cannot mix meat products with dairy products. Do eggs count as a meat product? Can I mix them with dairy products? Thank you in advance.

passover food - quick, fast? i am writing exams, and accordingly do not have a lot of time for food preparation or really leaving campus. There is nothing for eating kosher for pesach on campus, and i am beginning to become malnourished like a Gazan baby. What are some quick, fast recipes that are good for pesach? btw. i am sephardic and eat Kitnyot. yes we sephardic jews DO remove the chametz from the house and use separate dishes - we take extreme care to keep kosher in all procedures, and I find it unpleasant that you have to interject something like that, that seems very condescending. however, you are right, and i think i must only eat things made at home - i guess i just have to lose a few hours every day of studying to go home and prepare food! anti-semetic universities!!
food, passover, dessert, EASY?? please find me a recipe;; easy HEALTHY a dessert and for passoverr. and also, ingredients- that id deff have. ex. motzah meal. thankss!
Gluen Free Passover? M daughter is allergic to wheat/ gluten and corn. I am wanting a gluten free bread that she can have for Passover. I know I can look up recipes online but I would like to hear what breads people have made and actually tried. The simpler the recipe the better but I would also like it to be good. Our whole family will be eating gluten free. Any other tried and true recipes for gluten free Passover dishes will be greatly appreciated. Another not- she is allergic to eggs so unless an egg replacer will work well in any recipe htat calls for eggs, we wont be able to use it sorry- missed typos looking for Gluten Free Passover recipes I know there is not supposed to be yeast for Passover- ironically- she is allergic to yeast also! We just found out- I was looking for a Matzoh or flatbread recipe- which is what Matzoh is. Thank you clooth- your answer is very helpful and I will try that. I have one flatbread recipe but it is just mediocre- I want to make her something special for Passover and more like Matzoh
Baklava Cooking Help? My brother and I are making baklava for the the upcoming Passover holiday. I made it and it tastes perfect, but the only problem I have is in the cutting-and-serving stage. To better explain the problem, let me describe how our family recipe calls for it to be made. At the bottom of the cake pan, 8 layers of phyllo dough are individually buttered and put ontop one another. After that, half of the filling made is put in (it consists of walnuts, cinnamon, sugar, and ground cloves). Then, 8 more layers of dough, then the last layer of filling. The final layer of filling is topped off with 8 more layers of dough, then the finished baklava is cut into diamond-shapes before baking. When baked, I cut through the scorched lines before adding the syrup topping. Finally, it's covered and sits for 1-2 days before being eaten. When I go to serve it, the top layer of dough on the baklava always slides off, and it looks like crumbly pie, hardly appeasing to the eye. Is there a easy remedy? Thanks!
Springtime Party?? HI! I am thinking of throwing a springtime party! I was wondering when I should have it?? Before Easter & Passover? Or Should I have it sometime in April??? Can you think of some fun ideas on how to decrate?? What kind of invites should I send out, What should I say in the invites?? Food, what should we serve or should it be potluck? Any good recipes that you might have to serve??? Any other fun ideas?? Thanks, Jennifer PS: We do not have a pool. So swimming is not an option.
In Kosher Jewish recipies that call for tree nuts, can you substitute peanuts? The background for this is I like to occasionally eat Kosher food, even though I am not a Jew and I have noticed that a lot of the Kosher recipes that I read, especially for the sweets for holidays like Passover and Purim, are full of tree nuts. MY SO has a tree nut allergy, but not an allergy to peanuts and if I wanted to make some Hamantaschen for him to remind him that Jesus was born a Jew, would the texture and/or flavor of the sweets be affected by my substituting peanuts? I am not singling out Hamantaschen because I partiulclarly like Hamataschen, but because it was basically the first Jewish desseert I could remember the spelling for. To KarenL: There were a few recipes for Hamantacshen fillings I read that gave a fruit AND nut option for those who do NOT want to use the poppy seed filling.
Why won't coke offer a sugar-sweetened variety? Even if it costs more to buy.? As someone originally from a country where our soft drinks are sweetened with cane sugar I have been very unhappy with the "High Fructose Corn Syrup" versions available here in the US. I was overjoyed last week to discover the availability at this time of the year of Jewish "Passover Coke" that's made to the original recipe. I got ten 2L bottles of the stuff and it's just like the Coke from home - so much cleaner, cripser and it doesn't leave you with that syrupy, "still thirsty" feel in your mouth. I did a bit of research and discovered press releases from Coke claiming that the two tastes are indistinguishable - an out and out lie. My question: - as there seems to be a demand for soft drinks flavoured with cane sugar, and the mechanism to produce them is still available (as evidenced by passover coke), why does Coke and other bottlers not offer a sugar sweetened variety? I know corn syrup is much cheaper, but I for one would gladly pay 3 times as much to get REAL coke. Would you? Yeah I know about Jones soda - They arent bad but everything they put out seems to be of the overpoweringly "fruity" variety. No good old Colas etc.
How many of my fellow Jews would like to join Jews for Cheeses? to celebrate Shavuot? Would you share favorite Shavuot dairy dish recipe? It is customary to eat a dairy meal at least once during Shavu'ot Shavuot celebrates the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai, and is also known as Hag Matan Torateinu (the Festival of the Giving of Our Torah). The period from Passover to Shavu'ot is a time of great anticipation. We count each of the days from the second day of Passover to the day before Shavu'ot, 49 days or 7 full weeks, hence the name of the festival. See The Counting of the Omer. The counting reminds us of the important connection between Passover and Shavu'ot: Passover freed us physically from bondage, but the giving of the Torah on Shavu'ot redeemed us spiritually from our bondage to idolatry and immorality. Shavu'ot is also known as Pentecost, because it falls on the 50th day; however, Shavu'ot has no particular similarity to the Christian holiday of Pentecost, which occurs 50 days after their Spring holiday. Shavuot is June 8 this year. Best Answer given for the best Shavuot Dairy Recipe! http://www.jewfaq.org/holidayc.htm < If any of this is confusing to the non Jewish readers learn about Shavuot here. I want to make something different this year besides the usual blintzes. I am looking forward to seeing some yummy recipes! You're allowed to groan at my pun. I did it for attention :) It worked, You're reading my question. Now please would you share with me your favorite Shavuot dairy recipe? Also if you have any other family traditions you observe for this time, do not hesitate to share them! Lag B'Omer , athe 33rd day of counting the Omer, we often have picnics ( both my family and my coummunity) for this break in observance of no festivities between Pesach and Shavuot. Jewish Year 5768: sunset May 22, 2008 marks Lag B'Omer Recipes for Shavuot are anything that is primarily dairy..from blintzes to lasagne ( but without meat !) Kosher ( fit ) dishes do not mix meat and dairy. As long as the ingredients are kosher and it is a dairy dish, it should work. I've neglected peeking in for a while. Some wonderful recipes! I don't see anyone sharing more or telling of their family customs/celebrations?? If anyone has tried any of these recipes posted, let me know how they taste. I'm on my way to the grocery store later ..mmmm. And I'm definitely going to have to get some good goat cheese to try that one. This is going to be hard to decide!
My Jewish Lady Friends: Matzo Pizza on this religious holiday? I'm feeling a rising nostalgia among you for passover food. I'm already eat enough matzo brie to respackle my home, so let's forget the breakfast foods. Pizza will be undoubtedly the hardest to give up (it tends to serve as dinner one night a week). Who here can grace me with their guarded recipe? Shatter-proof would be best. Be well, and best of luck in your chametz search! MzRahi: You're right, I didn't see Cher's recipe. Now that's bachelor style! I like it! I'm also all about the cleansing during this time. Even my totally non-observant bf is doing the no chametz thing this year! Cher, as I said, I really like your toaster-oven style. Anything that goes into a real oven where I can walk away and be distracted is a bad, bad thing.
Is the Coca-Cola Corporation evil? A high level Coke exec spilled the beans to me! I feel obliged to pass along this information. While on vacation earlier this month, I stayed next door to a guy who's been in the beverage industry since before I was born. He works for Coke, and ever since Coke bought Vitamin Water, an acquisition he helped initiate, he's been working primarily for Coke's subsidiary Glaceau, the company that makes Vitamin Water. To make a long story short, he told me some damning things about Coke, Diet Coke, Vitamin Water, and the beverage industry as a whole. One night the combination of guilt, too much wine, and the ***** attitude of the South Pacific led him to really spill the beans. In a nutshell, here's what he said: 1. The introduction of New Coke back in the 80's was intended to fail. The real reason New Coke was introduced was to function as a subterfuge and allow time for the changing of Coke's original recipe from including cane sugar to corn syrup. Coke knew that if they simply switched from cane sugar to corn syrup, there would be a public outcry, but if they switched to corn syrup after New Coke, the public would welcome the change back to the near-original formula. It worked. Coke switched to corn syrup without a hitch. Apparently, the only way one can still find Coke with cane sugar and no corn syrup is during Passover (I think). Coke makes a drink called Kosher Coke (can anyone confirm this?) that only uses cane sugar. It's very similar to the old Coke formula. 2. Coke knew all along that the Diet Coke they sent to the troops during the first Gulf War contributed to Gulf War Syndrome. Apparently aspartame breaks down above 80-something degrees. Anyway, when it breaks down it becomes far more poisonous. The pallets of Diet Coke that were sent to the troops sat out in the desert heat, cooking for days, before they were finally chilled and drank by the troops. Similarly, Coke knows about aspartame poisoning, as do many companies, but keeping from the public the dangers of excitotoxins and other chemical additives is a top priority. He said that only the pharmaceutical industry spends more money pushing their poisons. Aspartame is far worse than most people know. I asked about fluoride in Coke, and he says that there is fluoride in Coke products, but not as much as in most cities' tap water, and he didn't believe fluoride is as bad as I thought it was. :glare:
