The recipe says to grill peppers and courgettes but it just so happens that I just can't stomach courgettes... So is there anything else I can use? It can't be onions because I don't think that would work in the dish. It is a pasta dish which is vegetables and pasta in a cheese and mustard sauce. Thank you!

For meat I am going to grill hamburgers and chicken. I'm going to bake fresh bread. However I need to know if I should grill some vegetables and what is a good side dish to serve?
Recipe for restaurant-style marinated + grilled skinless, boneless chicken breast fillet? American/Canadian restaurants usually have some menu items that involve a grilled chicken breast served with steamed vegetables. The chicken breast always comes out really juicy on the inside and it has those grill marks on the outside. I'm looking for one that's NOT specific to any culture (caribbean-style, asian, etc) since I'm looking for a general chicken breast recipe. It can't be spicy (also no Thai-style sauces, szechwan, or worcester sauces please). I would prefer it to have a lot of flavour, BBQ sauce ok (not anything that has an overpowering smoky flavour) & perhaps be like that offered at Moxie's Grill or Pickle Barrel Restaurant. Thank you! - also it can't have an overly galric taste

Could you please give me your cheap recipes? Hello, I love to cook but, I find that recipes that are meant to be "money saving" in magazines and books always end with you having to buy a tub of cream etc that you will not use again. Sometimes you can't even make it bulk and freeze it. So, I am looking for ideas for cheap and lovely meals that I can make for my family. Can you help? We have fallen into the routine of having "nights" like toad in the hole, mince pie, grilled chicken with salad, pasta with roasted vegetables etc. Lamb chops or a chicken dinner. So I could do with some extra suggestions
Can you substitute balsamic vinegar for red wine vinegar? I have a recipe that calls for a few tablespoons of red wine vinegar. (it's actually for a grilled vegetable terrine.) Can I use balsamic vinegar instead? I have a feeling that it will work well and I also don't want to run to the store to buy a whole bottle of red wine vinegar but I wonder if I will be completely changing the taste. It's my first time trying the recipe out. What do you think? thanks!
Wanting to grill vegetables, need a marinade? Trying to come up with a vegitarian recipe for a friend of my. We want to grill some vegetables. I'm thinking of a kind of kabob, using a marinade I once used with shrimp, but I don't have the recipies. It was soy-based, with garlic, ginger, corriander and more. Anyone have a similar recipe? Or any other ideas?
Does anyone know what that brown sauce is on my penang grill with tofu? I get this Thai(?) dish that's great but I don't know what's in it. It is a grilled tofu steak with a brown sauce that looks like soy sauce but it is thicker and sweeter. It is also topped with peanuts and usually served with grilled vegetables. What is that sauce and can I buy it at a grocery store or find a recipe somewhere?
Why are grilled tomatoes healthier then regular, and other health questions? The first question is obvious: I have a healthy breakfast recipe that calls for 1 slice of grilled tomato. That's a lot of work for one slice. If someone knows why it's healthier then a raw tomato, and/or has an alternative, easier way to prepare a healthy tomato, let me know. So here's a list of my questions: 1.Why are grilled tomatoes healthier then regular tomatoes, and/or is there an easier alternative? 2.Is Yoplait yogurt organic? 3. what's the difference between virgin and extra virgin olive oil? 4. how can you tell if milk is organic? 5. I have a dinner plan, and it says I should have Green leafy vegetables sautéed in a wok with 1tsp sesame seeds for dinner. But I am 13, and that's too much work for me. Is there an easier alternative? If so, what is it? If not, why? 6.I have a breakfast plan that says, '2 dried or fresh peaches'. At the store, dried peaches only come in bags. How can I measure 2 peaches worth of dried slices? 7.What is an alternative to a wholemeal 'roll'? 8.what constitutes as 'green salad'? 9.I cottage cheese. What's a good substitute? 10.Does anyone have a good vegetable stew recipe that included tomatoes, chickpeas, spinach, potatoes, raisins and whole grain rice? 11.Something calls for Natural yogurt. Is this the same as Organic? If not, what's the difference and how can I tell? 12.I'm supposed to have Salmon fillet with lemon juice, baked in the oven with a large mix of steamed vegetables for dinner.. How do you steam vegetables, and is there an easier way to make salmon? 13.I'm supposed to have a banana smoothie Banana milkshake (blend 300ml organic or soy milk, 1 natural yogurt, 2 small bananas and 1 tsp raisins). Is there a smoothie like this at Jamba Juice? JUST as healthy? Can I order a custom smoothie? 14.What's a Jacket Potato? 15. Dinner is supposed to be Stuffed pepper: mix 4 tbsp basmati rice, 2 tsp pine nuts, chopped chives, cherry tomatoes and 60g feta together. Chop a pepper in half, fill and serve with a large portion of steamed veg. Is there a resturaunt I can get this at? 16.Where's a good resturaunt to get Avocado and Prawns? 17.What's a good whole wheat cereal? 18. I am supposed to have for dinner: Vegetarian pizza: cut a loaf of wholemeal bread into slices 10cm long. Top with tomato sauce, chopped s and green pepper, 1 tbsp sweetcorn and a small chunk of mozzarella, cut into slices. Bake and serve. Can I just order Zachary's with these toppings? Is it more/less healthy? 19.what is 'fruits of the forest salad'? 20.What is stock? THANK YOU! Whoever answers the most questions will get best answer.. as SOON as it lets me choose! TY!
What are some new meat dish recipes? Every month we have the same old foods Meat Loaf, Cheeseburgers, Steaks, Pork Chops, Sloppy Joes, Spaghetti, Lasagna, Enchiladas, Burritos, Tacos, Weiner Schnitzel, Chicken Piccata, Chicken Strips, Baked Chicken, Grilled pork chops Grilled Chicken, Ribs, Vegetable Soup, Roast Pork, Pork Tenderloin, Hamburger Steaks, Jambalaya, Fried Rice, French Dips, Club Sandwiches. I'm tired of the same ole same ole. Looking for tried and true recipes from your kitchen....not some website. I have a picky eater in my house. My son likes raw vegetables and cooked green beans (which we already eat too much). Oh and he doesn't eat seafood. Whoever can come up with the most creative meat dish that is different from the above list, will get the points. Every week I buy ground beef, boneless skinless chicken, pork chops or pork roast. Sometimes I buy kielbasa or bratwurst and I always have bacon on hand (what respectable southern girl doesn't?). I will try the recipe before I award the points! Tough criteria, I know, but I'm looking to get out of this rut!
easy recipes? me & my daughter eat the same things all the time. she: meat eater, will try most things me: very picky, vegetarian, only eat cooked vegetables (yeah..it's backwards, but my mom let me live on grilled cheese when i was little instead of trying new things). any recipes for two people, no meat, cooked vegetables, easy to prepare that i can make? suggestions for boxed dinners welcome too, bc that's what i usually buy.
Healthy Recipes? I am a big turkey and chicken fan and thats it .... no fish or cow or anything else. What are some healthy hearty meals I can make that aren't at all fattening? I have already tried grilled chicken with vegetables... what is something DIFFERENT?!?
Dessert recipes with vegetables? It's always fun, since vegetables are usually used in salty dishes. And the guests rarely guess what it is, since few people will think about vegetables when it's a dessert. I'll start with one I like (and one of the very few I know): Carrot cream: Cook 200 g carrots. Mix them finely with 0,5 dl milk, 7,5 g cornstarch and 37,5 g sugar. Bring 1 dl cream to a boil and add the carrot mix. Cook for 1 minute. Sprinkle with grilled powder hazelnut and put in the fridge for 3 hours. So, got any other dessert recipes with vegetables? I prefer the noble mangoustan, Isabelle. Best fruit in the world.
Inexpensive Meals? Please include recipes? We mainly live on ramen noodles, rice, potatoes, frozen vegetables, macaroni and cheese, fish sticks, fries, hamburger helper, chicken nuggets, pot pies, spaghetti, and occassional grilled pork, and broccoli cheese soup. Can anyone recommend anything else that I can prepare (I have very little experience in the kitchen) that is really cheap to make?? We also eat a lot of deli sandwhiches, eggs (cheese omelets mostly), PB&J, and manwhich.

Carribean vegetable casserole with plantain? A friend of a friend who is from the carribean once made a sort of vegetable casserole that she served with rice and plantian. I had never had this before (I thought it was a grilled banana) and from memory she cooked the plantain by cutting it lengthwise down the middle and cooking it under the grill (it was served with the skin still on). I would love to make this dinner again. I cant remember exactly what veg were in the casserole. It was mildly spicy and sooooo delicious. Also, can you cook plantain under the grill and if so - for how long? Any advice or recipes would be much appreciated as I have no way of contacting the person who originally cooked this dinner !
Meals/Recipes to eat while your on a diet? (details inside)? Me and my boyfriend are going on a diet. Along with my parents. We plan to start walking every morning around 7. Then once again at night after dark. The problem is we don't eat healthy. Every weekend there's a cookout, grilled chicken, brats, burgers, hotdogs, everything. During the week we have make-shift dinners and meals. We buy stuff to snack on like Chips, Pop-Corn, Ramen Noodles, stuff like that. NOT HEALTHY. I will be cooking the meals during the week, but I have no idea what to cook. We have some picky eaters here (myself included) that doesn't care for many vegetables. I need some recipes that are healthy. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and if possible (not necessary) some snacks. What else can we do besides walk? We can't afford a gym membership and the only excercise equipment we have is an Ab Lounger (somewhere I think) Maybe even a shopping list would help too? Most importantly the recipes. Or links to websites with healthy recipes Thanks!

Thai Vegetable Pot Stickers from Uno's Chicago Bar and Grill...Where can I get the Recipe? Today I ate lunch at an Uno's Chicago Bar and Grill, and had one of the most delicious dishes I've eaten in weeks, their Thai Vegetable Pot Stickers. Has anyone had them? If so, would you happen to know where I could find the recipe, or have any idea regarding what the sauce might be? I've seen that there is obviously sesame seeds and julienned carrots and snow peas on top, but I can't figure out what the filling is either, although I am more interested in what the sauce is. Thanks in advance!

I got one of those rice maker pots (I believe you can also used to stem vegetables). What are the best recipes to make mashed potatoes (from scratch) the best tasting stem vegetables, etc Before I got married I never cook so I am kind of lost. What is the best way to learn. Food Network Channel or buying cook books. Thank you for your help

Can you grill beets? I really like beets. I am used to canned which is ok. But, I like to grill or George Forman different types of vegetables. I am watching Alton Brown but missed most of his program about beets. Does anyone have any experience or have any tastey recipes for grilling beets?
Different ways of making food? for example - Curry, Boil, Grill etc.... I dont want any recipes..I just want to learn the different ways of cooking Meat, Poultry, and vegetables...and how to prepare meat by thawing and marinating for the different types of cooking ( If it's not the same)... I love to cook as a hobby, so I just thought I'll sort of learn the correct methods of cooking without blindly following recipes.. Thanks!
Suggestion for delicious but bland recipes? My dad recently had a major stomach surgery and can only have VERY BLAND meals. Could someone please suggest delicious, non-greasy, ideally only very light seasoning (and simple, I am new to cooking) recipes and instructions using any of these ingredients? My dad also doesn't have that many teeth to chew. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! Things my dad can eat: - chicken breast (broiled, grilled, non-breaded, no skin) - fish (steamed, broiled) - peanut butter - oatmeal - applesause - soft cheese - cottage cheese - may try wheat bread Things to avoid: - white bread, rice, pasta (things that expand in stomach) - raw fruits/vegetables - fibrous meat (e.g. beef, pork, lamb, veal) - nuts THANK YOU very much for your great suggestions about fish and egg. I'll try to make them.
What's your favorite way to make a grilled cheese sandwich? Here's one: This one is real good because it uses fat free cheese so the grease factor is not over powering to the taste, but what's your method and what are your ingredients? Here's the recipe: Take 2 slices of thin bread, place them on a warm pan with melted vegetable oil, let them warm up, add 1- 2 slices of fat free cheese to each slice of bread for extra flavor, then with a spatula place the sand which together after the cheese is melted, and turn it 1 or 2 more times until the bread is as golden as you like it to be for your grilled cheese sandwich.
What are some healthy recipes for somebody who is not on a diet? I'm not looking for diet foot. I'm a 5'5", 100 lb. 16 year old girl who runs cross country, so there is no need at all for me to try and cut calories. I'm just really sick and tired of the gross, over-processed foods that I'm always stuck eating. What can I eat that is healthy, yet still has enough substance for a very active yet slim person? These are some healthy (for the most part) foods that I really like: Nectarines Strawberries Whole wheat pasta, bread, etc. Sorbet/sherbet Celery Cucumbers Flatbread Grilled chicken Apples Sushi Shark Peas Crab Swordfish Beans Peppers Carrots Steak Tangerines I tend to only like the fruits and veggies raw. Your suggestions don't have to stick to the foods I listed. I'm open to anything. I just don't like bananas and vegetable lasagna.

May I have your favorite recipe for a very lowfat, vegetarian dish cooked in a crock pot? I live in a truck and I have a small crock pot, the kind that cooks on high only. I would appreciate it if you could send me a recipe for something tasty and different that I could make in my truck. I need ingredients that are commonly available at Wal-Mart. That is the only place that I can drive my truck into to get groceries. I have only a small, Coleman, picnic sized 12 volt cooler. The only thing I cook in it now is rice, which is not the best way to cook rice, but it is better than Twinkies. I do have a microwave too and a George Foreman grill (for chicken). I eat chicken, turkey and salmon or other fish in moderate amounts, about 6 oz./day. I love vegetables, so I would appreciate any help!
Does anyone know the recipe for The Office's house dressing? There's a house dressing served with vegetables at The Office Beer Bar & Grill chains in NJ. Does anyone know the recipe? Thanks!
BBQ Birthday help? For my mothers 50th? I am planning a surprise party, bbq "luau" for my mothers 50th birthday. I am having a bit of trouble planning the food. So far i am deffinately going to have chicken and beef kabobs that i found GREAT recipes for. I am also going to make twice baked potatoes, ramen noodle salad, regular salad, Appetizers: cheese puff/bites, pizza snacks. I am trying to make alot of finger-ish type foods b/c it is going to be in a very small backyard. I want it to be great b/c i am inviting ppl from my mothers job as well as my own. I also have an uncle who is coming who cannot eat anything with dairy. Is there anything i can make that would be elegant/fun and has no milk in it? I was thinking about pizzas on the grill w/sauce and vegetables almost like a vegan pizza. Any other ideas would help! Thanks so much :) * i kind of want to keep the luau theme, i am very big on the pin up girl /50's style, so its going to be a bit vintage as well. Hope this helps*
Inexpensive ideas for Valentines Day... recipes, too.? My husband and I are buying our first house & closing on Feb. 19th. Plus, our 2nd anniversary is March 10th. So we'll be a little broke for V-day. I cook dinner every night... but if anyone has a recipe that tastes really gourmet & isn't a pain in the neck to make, I'll try it. We went to Olive Garden last year on Valentines day & it was terrible. It took our waitress took forever & a day to come to our table. Then about 30 minutes to bring out glasses of iced tea, then another 45 minutes to bring out our food. My chicken was undercooked & cold. I sent it back & took another 25 minutes to get another meal... it was awful. Here's what I normally keep on hand or can easily get: -White wine -Olive oil, margarine, vegetable oil -Baguette/french bread -Garlic -Spices/herbs: basil, crushed peppers (a lot of types of peppers), thyme, oregano, rosemary, salt, pepper, grill seasoning, lemon pepper seasoning, etc. -Milk -Boneless skinless chicken breasts -Salad stuff -Pasta -Frozen vegetables -Onions, potatoes, bell peppers I don't like fish. chef2b77-- those are the CUTEST little desserts!!! I'll definitely make those! Thanks =)
Quick meals for picky eaters? I want to impress my live-in boyfriend and cook him something good. (the last time I tried to cook for him was a disaster and he hasn't let me cook since) I don't really know any recipes or good meals though because I grew up in a single parent home and my mom worked all the time so we never really had family dinners because she never had time to cook. I pretty much had macaroni, chicken on the george foreman grill, grilled cheese, cereal, ramen soup, pb&j, or some variation of the previously mentioned foods every day of my life growing up. Another problem with cooking is that we are both pretty picky. Recipes can't have any of these in it: eggs any beans but kidney beans spicy things spaghetti alfredo ham pork chops vegetables other than corn on the cob, mashed potatoes, and sundried tomatoes steak and I'm so sick of chinese, pizza, and BBQ because that's all we've been having lately. PLEASE give me some good recipes. =D
I've been diagnosed with an intolerance to milk, egg white, egg yolk and chicken. What can I eat?!? Although I feel fortunate that I can eat fruits, vegetables and grains, I love grilled cheese, pasta dishes, etc. and I feel so limited. I'm not a big meat eater, but I'm not a vegetarian, either. I prefer to keep it low fat and as healthy as possible, although I'm a little underweight so I'm not concerned about low calorie. Any suggestions, recipes, helpful websites would be much appreciated. FYI, it's not that I'm lactose intolerant--I'm MILK intolerant, so I can't have anything with dairy or casein at all. I bought some soy cheese today, only to discover it has casein added.
Parboilding Vegetables? i am planning on cooking beef kabobs later on the grill-it's a charcoal grill-i am using peppers and onions-in one recipe it told to parboil the peppers at least so that when you cook them, they are done, without burning. is that something that should be done? thanks

Can I substitute canola oil for peanut oil ? I have a recipe for salmon that will be grilled. Part of the marinade calls for 1/4 cup of peanut oil which I don't have. I do have Canola oil, olive oil and vegetable oil. Which one of these oils could be used to substitute for the peanut oil ? I do realize that peanut oil is used for high temp. cooking. Unfortunately I don't have it. Any ideas ? Thanks ahead of time !
Does anyone have any recipes for the Sacred Heart Diet? (not the soup recipe)? I am on the Sacred Heart Diet with my family (mom, dad, cousin, friend) and we have all lost some weight but we are getting rather bored with the usual steamed veggies, whole fruits. We made grilled veggies tonight and we are planning on making fruit and veggie kabobs tomorrow but does anyone have any recipes that just contain fruit, vegetables, (not corn, peas, tomatoes, bananas) and simple seasonings like soy sauce worchestire sauce salt pepper onion powder garlic powder? (no cheese, dressings, anything like that just the veggies and fruits NOTHING ELSE) Thanks!
Inexpensive Meals?? Please include recipe!? We mainly live on ramen noodles, rice, potatoes, frozen vegetables, macaroni and cheese, fish sticks, fries, hamburger helper, chicken nuggets, pot pies, spaghetti, and occassional grilled pork, PB&J, eggs (mostly cheese omelets), manwhich, some dish that uses chicken breasts, quiche, and broccoli cheese soup. I also buy fresh and frozen fruit. Can anyone recommend anything else that I can prepare for a meal (I have very little experience in the kitchen) that is really cheap to make??

BEEF VINDALOO? curry recipe? I am looking to recreate a dish from "Moxies Classic Grill" called the beef vindaloo. This is how it is described in the Menu. "Tender strips of marinated steak, vegetables, ginger, garlic and shredded sweet coconut in a very spicy vindaloo curry sauce, served on a bed of jasmine rice with yogurt and curry-buttered naan bread. " I know from previously working there, that the yogurt is just drizzled on top as a garnish to cool down the spice. Anyway, I have been craving it every day since being pregnant but it's very expensive so I want to make it at home! Thank you!!! Hunter that is very cool, do you know how to buy the sauce? can I get it directly from that website?
Can anyone help clarify what these methods of cooking mean? Hi, i'm starting to get into cooking and consider myself quite good but was just looking at recipes on the net and now i'm a bit confused.... What is the difference between grilling, broiling, sautetting etc and what does each of these involve? I'm only familiar with frying, baking, boiling and simple stuff like that lol! Also, can anyone recommend any simple recipes for chicken, vegetables or vegetarian dishes? My boyfriend is veggie and i would like some ideas for dishes we could eat together, whereby i could just substitute the meat for quorn or something? Cheers for any help xx Can you please give examples as well to help clarify, how would i grill something or sautee something??? Ok, and what the hell is a skillet and what is a broiler? Is that an american name or something cos i've never heard of it....(no disrespect meant there!) Is a skillet like a frying pan?
Easy meals for one person.? So, I'm a college kid and staying in an apartment this summer and need some recipes to try so I don't eat the same old stuff all the time. A little more information: I like a lot of Italian dishes; I eat a lot of chicken; I don't like most Asian foods/spices; I don't eat mayonnaise or eggs (though eggs as an ingredient are fine); I like a lot of vegetables: tomato, onion, broccoli, garlic, spinach, etc.; I'm a big fan of pasta dishes, so I'm willing to try different sauces; I don't have a grill. I'm open to pretty much any suggestions you might have - just looking out for some new foods to try. =) Thanks.

frying chicken help!? okay, bare with me ...i'm a college student-that's my excuse and im sticking to it :) Anyway, I normally bake or grill chicken but i want some FRIED chicken and I'd rather LEARN how to fry it rather than go to Popeyes everytime I crave it. I have some boneless, skinless chicken breasts and a cast iron pan and a non stick pan. Does it matter which pan I use, and if not which do you reccomend? Most importantly, frying the chicken! How do i do it? I've read some recipes and they use shortening and lard or whatever else, well i have olive OIL and vegetable OIL & i would like to use what i have (i'm a student, remember?). I don't want any super fancy recipes, just some simple GOOD friend chicken lol. Also, make sure to let me know how much oil to use....do i drown the chicken?? LOL HELP!!!!
I need this chicken recipe, please!!!? Do you know what the recipe is? One of my dad's friends made a type of chicken when he visited, and I lost the recipe. He started by mixing the sauce on the stove top, then grilled the chicken while basting w/sauce. It had eggs, lemon juice, lots of different spices and it was HOT. I do not recall if it contained beer, but it is a good possibility...The sauce was kinda creamy and beige-ish in color. It was not a chunky sauce, and it was not pureed. There were no vegetables in it, just herbs, spices and liquids...Maybe some type of jerk? It was served with a mild yellow rice.10 points for whoever can help me find the right ingredients. I will test, and then choose. And please don't send me links to recipe sites. I am not an idiot. I can find those myself. I have already searched a lot of them, and can't find what I am looking for. Thanks!!! And no, the eggs will not scramble if they are mixed with other liquids. They just thicken the sauce. I know that much from Basic Skills @ Sullivan. The technique I have got...just need ingredients...
All about Chorizo-? I love this stuff, but I can never cook it right. Is it best to get the dry cured kind and add it to a sauté, or the raw stuff. I’m torn between the two. Freshly cooked sausages taste so good but they’re impossible to cook without a grill. Any suggestions? I prefer the casing to have a snap to it. The recipe I’m trying to perfect is Chorizo with root vegetables topped with Monchego and a light mustard sauce. Usually serve it with a sour dough crusty bread. Any ideas how to best prepare the sausage? xsquash- i never thought to roast it. when grilling, do you center on heat direct heat or cook slowly with the smoke and indirect heat?
